The revolt has ended, and the Ministry announces that Funchal was handed over to the Government. The total casualties in the Battle of Madeira are now revealed. The rebels had three killed and twelve wounded, and tho attacking force none killed and two wounded. Little material damage appears to have resulted. The rebel leaders took refuge in the British Consulate. The warship Tasco da Gama carried out a bombardment which, though it broke the rebels' morales, caused no casualties. Marines and bluejackets were landed to protect British lives and property. The foreign residents and visitors arc unharmed, and no civilians wore injured.
