FUGITIVE FROM POLICE
SURRENDER WHEN SINKING
LONDON, 29th April. Suspected of murdering a woman, John Harrity, a farmer, of County Donegal, put up an extraordinary fight against arrest.
Upon receiving warning he seized a gun. and ammunition and rushed to Lough Swilly, where he clambered into a boat. Four Civil Guards manned another boat and went in pursuit.
Ilarrity picked off and wounded each of the police. Soldiers (lien manned four bonls and opened fire while converging on the fugitive, who only surrendered when he was slightly wounded and when his boat sank under him.
