WELLINGTON CLUB'S YEAR
The animal meeting of the Wcllingtou j Golf Club was held last night, Mr. J. 'Marehbanks,- the relh'ing club captain, presiding over a largo attendance. j 'The revenue account showed a loss of ilSl Kis 3d, as against a prolit of £.103 9s Od the previous year. Exceptional expenditure included £122 is for additional wages and material used iv the construction of the eleventh green. Debentures to the value of £110 were donated to the club. Entrance fees during the year amounted to £534 Ite, and this sum, according to the rules, had been transferred to the .Entrance Fee Reserve Account, i 'The amount due on mortgage was reduced I by £143 10s tld. The accumulated funds and reserve, trbich together constituted the surplus of assets (at book values) over the liabilities amounted to £u3SO 17s 2d. j Mr. L. O. 11. Tripp was elected to the ] ufh'ee of .president. Mr. Tripp is an original member of the Wellington Golf Club, having beeu associated with the club since its inception iv 18U4. Ho was the iim secretary of the club. The following ollicers were elected: — Vice-presidents, Dr. C. J. Rcakes and Air. W.- A. Kiely; captain, Mr. A. D. S. Duncan; committee, Messrs. C. Wr D. liell, J. D. G. Duncan, R. E. Tolhurst, and J. W. Ward; auditors, Messrs. Watkins, Hull, Hunt, and Wheeler. Tributes were paid to the work of the retiring captain, Mr. J. Marehbanks, and the service he has rendered to the club during his term of ollice. Alterations were .made to the rules at o. special general meeting. An increase j in the unmbcr of ordinary playing mem-j hers from 2fl.V to 27f> was provided for. Another resolution was passed whereby persons who had previously been ordinary members of the club i'or not less than live years in the aggregate would have first claim on vacancies for ordinary playing members. This, it was .stated, would allow old members who had ' left' Wellington, but subsequently returned, to have precedence iv rejoining the club. Any vacancies not. filled in this way Mould next be available to limited members, j and then country members with member- j ship aggregating throe years. After that j limited and country members with less than three years' membership would be given alternate? opportunities to play as j ordinary playing members. l
