About 500 teams, representing 25,000 men and boys, are shooting with the .22 rifle, and a small proportion with the service rifle, with a reduced-load cartridge, known as gallery practice ammunition. Wo also have about fifty teams shooting quickfiring matches with the service revolver. All the targets are. supplied from tho association office,- and°Tvheii shot on are returned to the offlco for checking. That is some Job, particularly when, a report on errors is sent away." ON THE MOUND. "In taking up the prone position spread your legs and get as much of your body on the ground as possible. Get the sling well up under the armpit. Spread the arms as widely as you can without discomfort. The left hand should be as far forward as possible, so that the 'balance' point 'of tho rifle comes In the palm of the hand. Both hands should grip the rifle firmly, pulling It well Into the shoulder. The butt should be well in on the shoulder, on the muscle and not on the bone. . . . . If you are a beginner study the position taken up by good men, but don't copy their personal fads You want every advantage you can get. .... Adjust the aperture of your back-sight to suit your eye and the light. It is better to have the aperture on the big side than on the smalt side."— Captain E. EL. Boblnson, G.M., in.
