ANZAC DAY CONCERT

There was a large attendance at the Town Hall on Saturday evening when a programme arranged by Mr. H. Temple White .was presented. The Wellington Harmonic Society, with Mr. White as conductor, sang the part songs, Gaul's "The. Silent Land," Robertson's spiritual, "All in the April Evening," and the carol, "Ring Out, Wild Bells" (Fletcher). The Melodic Four (Messrs. S. Duncan, F. E. Bryant, E. S. Allwright, and W. W. Marshall) contributed' "Comrades in Arms," and "A Pastoral Evening." The Cecilian Quartet (ladies) sang "Flowers of the Forest" (arranged by Mr. Ernest Jenner), and the "Cradle Song" of Brahms. Mr. Ernest Glading, baritone, contributed "Menin Gate" and "The Glory of the Sea." Mr. Clement May recited "The Ballad of Capo St. Vincent" (Masefield), "Liehtenberg" (Kipling), and Shakespeare's "Once More Unto the Breach," from "Henry V." Miss Nellie Amies sang "A Summer Night" (Goring Thomas), and "I Did Not Know." Miss Myra Sawyer sang "Aye Maria" and "Crossing the Bar." Messrs. W. M'Lean, S. M'Lean, and Norman Izott played as instrumental trios tho "Prize Song" from Wagner's "Moistersingers," and Schutt's "A'also Legende." Mr. Edgar Swain, tenor, sang "I Heard You Singing" (Coates), and Hill's "Waiata Poi." Miss Gladys Watkins was the accompanist. . ■;■
