RUNNING AT LOSS
THE MAUI POMARE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 9th April. ' A statement, regarding the running of the motor-vessel Maui Pomare was received from the PrLie Minister by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.
I Mr. Forbes stated that the vessel had been run at a loss during the past year, and. that it was the intention of the Government to operate the Maui Pomare unless or until a service was produced by private enterprise. "The Government must be losing about £2000 per trip. The ship is carrying only about 25 per cent, of her load each time," said Mr. Harvey Turner in proposing that the letter be received. ■
