A spacious and tastefully furnished Lounge gives a pleasing aspect on entering, while the welllighted Dining Room affords the acme of comfort and is designed to give quick service to patrons. Some 58 Bedrooms allow ample accommodation for guests. The building was erected by the Fletcher Construction Co. The Plumbing and Electrical work was undertaken by A. & T. Burt, Ltd-; whilst Messrs. Hill & Jackson were responsible for the Painting and Glazing. Messrs. Francis Holmes, Ltd., supplied the Cement, the Sand and Shingle earning from the Pits of Messrs. Tonks & Andrews, of Kilbirnie. Waygood Otis (N.Z.) Ltd. installed the Lift; and Structural and Electrical Supplies, Ltd., of 19 Tory Street, provided the Linolite for the Hotel Bar Counters. The Furniture and Furnishings were the work of the Scoullar Company. The Gas installation was carried out by the Wellington Gas Company; and Messrs. Shacklocks, Ltd., supplied the Kitchen Range. An additional safeguard that the Hotel will be conducted on strictly modern principles lies in the fact that the licensee is Mrs. Dwyer, formerly 'of the Empire Hotel, so well known to the travelling public of New Zealand.
