PLANT RESEARCH

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMEBSTON N., This Day. As the result of extensive tests carried out during the past year by the Agricultural Research Station, and through the isolation of disease-resist-ing types, it is hoped that club root in swedes will become of little economic significance. The experiments at the station cover a wide range, from wheat rusts to tobacco spots ■ and disease-free lines. Many seeds are being packed for commercial distribution. A special investigation is being made of bacterial wilt in beans, a disease which recently appeared in the Dominion. Many lucerne cultures have been distributed to farmers, and outstanding success has been achieved.
