EVENTS AT PLIMMERTON

Six races wore held on Easter Saturday and Monday by the Plimmerton Boating Club. The first race on Saturday was for the Vickery trophy, which went to the Minnehaha, with the Colleen second. The course was from the clubhouse to the entrance of Porirua Harbour and back. The handicaps and finishing times by the clock were:— Minnehaha, G. Eedward (46min), llhr, 1; Colleen, K. Pickering (36min), llhr Oiain lOsee, 2 ; Tuakana, H. Waddel (20 mm), lOhr 57min llsec, 3; Opawa, H. Thompson (20min), llhr smin 2sec, 4; Huia, F. Bryant (scr), lOhr 53min 4 sec, 5. The second race was. over a course from Karohana Bay to Bar Bay and back. The boats had to negotiate a heavy swell, arid on the handicaps the Tuahana was able to beat the scratch boat Huia by only lOsec. The finishing times and handicaps were:—Tuakana, H. Waddel (2min), llhr sniin ssec, 1; Huia, P. Bryant (scr), llhr 56min 15 sec, 2; Minnehaha, G. Eedward (3min), llhr 59min 50see, 3; Colleen, K. Pickering (3min), 12hr Omin 45sec, 4. Opawa, H. Thompson (6min), did not finish. Monday's race for the.Bryant trophy over a shorter course of three rounds attracted five starters. The handling of centreboard craft was good, and some of the rounds were very keenly contested. First place wont to the Opawa, whose skipper sailed an almost perfect race. The finishing times were as follows:—Opawa, H. Thompson (3min), 12 hr 9min 45sec, 1; Tuakana, H. Waddel (2min), 12hr 9min 30sec, -2; Eamona, C. Swift (Bmin), 12hr 15min 30see, 3; Minnehaha, G. Eedward (4min), 12hr 25 mm, 4; Huia-, F. Bryant (scr), disqualified. In the second Tace on Monday the Eamona won the Waddel trophy. _ In the early stages of the race the Minnehaha dropped out through carrying away her peak halyards, and the Tuakana ; wag. .disqualified \ for fouling the buoy. The. Eamo.na with her handicap defeated the scratch boat Huia by only lOsee. This was the second occasion, in which there was a difference of only lOsec between the first and second boats.
