SOME GOOD CATCHES

Some very good sport has lately been obtained by anglers in the lakes and rivers of the Taupo and Rotorua fisheries. Taupo, according to the- official reports received by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle) still holds this season the record for good fishing results. In the Rotorua district the sport has picked up a little, but it is not so good as in past years. Tho Conservator of Fish and Game states that trolling and harling parties have during the last few days secured fine bags in the various bays of Taupo. One fisherman caught forty-five fish at Mine Point and Whakaipo, averaging sslb, the heaviest turning the scale at 811b. At Rangitira Point, Whanganui (in Western Bay)', Waitahanui, and tho Tongariro River, specimens weighing 6i, 74, 8, 9, 10i, and 111b have been landed. One fisherman bagged a 13----pounder. There has been good fishing also at the Delta. In the pool below the Aratiatia Rapids some well-conditioned fish of weight between 3J and 51b were caught. Some good fish of 5 and 61b have been taken in the Bay of Plenty area, and a party of two fishing in Lake Tarawera secured eight splendid fish, totalling forty pounds. The number of anglers fishing in. both districts has increased during the last tea days.
