MAN KILLED INSTANTLY
COLLISION ON BRIDGE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HAWERA, 6th April
William Hanson, of Patea, aged about 55, wharf labourer, was killed instantly on the Manawapou bridge, Main South road, shortly before noon, when a motor-cycle which ho was riding collided with a car driven by a Maori, J. Rowe, of Patea, who was proceeding to the Hawera trots with two companions. ■ Mr. Kowe states that the car was first on the bridge and stopped when Hansen approached from the other end. Hansen seemed to lose control of the cycle, swerving and striking the car's mudguard. Hansen, who was thrown against the metalwork of the hood, receiving terrible head injuries, was returning alone to Patea from Teroti, near Hawera, where he spent the "week-end with his wife. '
