LONDON", 6th April

"I suppose my good luck holds. This I is certainly one of my worst experiences," said Sir Malcolm Campbell after a narrow shave from a fatal smash in the Easier Monday races at Brooklands. In a handicap event with fifteen competitors, Campbell, driving his own Bugatti and doing a hundred milos an hour, braked down to take the bend, when the track rod holding the front wheels in position broko wilh a terrific crash, tore out the spokes of one wheel, and jammed the other. Tlio Bugatti zig-zagged wildly, and thousands lining the- banking breathlessly watched Campbell desperately fighting to keep the car on the track, one side of which, has high banking over which a fall would spell almost certain death. On the other side crowds were packing the rails. The car careered perilously for at, least half a. minute, when Campbell, with a terrific effort, regained control. He got out cool and collected, but said: HI did not know how I managed to hold her on the track. It was a ghastly experience."
