The Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand, at its session yesterday, passed resolutions recording regret at the passing of the Nurses and Midwives Amendment Bill, prejudicing the status of the nursing profession and placing a sectarian hospital in competition with public hospitals for State aid; objecting to the exemption, of lay teachers in certain private schools from the payment of the unemployment levy; protesting against the ■ extension of the dental clinic service to scholars in denominational schools; and rer^ving the protest against free railway travel to children of denominational schools. j Dominion officers elected were:— E.W.G.M., Bro. Galbraith (Auckland); G.D.M., Bro. _ Agnew (Southland); Grand Chaplain, Bro. Benfell (Dunedin); Grand Secretary, Bro. Patton (Dunedin); Grand Treasurer, Bro. Pagan (Feilding); G.F. Committee, Bros. Warren (Canterbury), Hunter (Wellington), Hollinger (Christchurch), Elliott (Auckland), Legge (Christchurch), and Annett (Timaru). The. sum of £50 has been voted to tlve master tailors of Hawkes Bay from the benevolent fund of the master tailors of Great Britain. Certain, conditions have to be complied with in connection with the grant. The money must be distributed ie accordance with tile rules of the Master Tailors' Benevolent Association, which stipulate that grants should only be made for the relief of master tailors who have traded and conducted their own businesses for at least ten years within, the ' Em- j JUB6, ~.' „,.>,. .
