HASTINGS V. WELLINGTON

Local cricket enthusiasts who have taken a particular interest in the matches ■between Hastings and the Wellington junior cricketers have presented a cup for the annual competition between these teams, and it is to bo known as the Gaunet Cup, this name having been given as a result of an enjoyable trip on which the Wellington juniors were taken by the Hastings enthusiasts to Cape Kidnappers during one of the visits to Hastings. Six Hastings-Wellington matches have been .played", and each team : has won three. Each win is to be recorded on the Gannet Cup.

This season's match was concluded at the Basin Reserve, yesterday. Hastings, in their second innings, mado IS4 (Fipparti 54, Can- 22, Polhill 20). Bowling for Wellington, Robertson took three wickets for 12-runs,'TCll-three for 31, and Ashenden two for 29. Wellington won the 'match .by 59 runs. The Hastings team left for Hawkes Bay this morning.
