EASTER IN THE RING

A golden, day, and I have stumbled from the pencilled, meandering path through a hole in a thorny hedge. And in the trees, in the bushes, among the grasses, everywhere 'on the .other side of that hedge, are—fairies! The Fairy Eing, of course . . . and there is Fairiel beside a green lawn. Soon the tiny lawn ia filled with the most- merry gathering' of elves ana fairies. "Fairy-Fussabdut" presents herself before Her Majesty, and is sent immediately to separate "Donkey" and "Black Thoughts," who are deep* in converse with each other. All the flower fairies exhibit themselves, and are begged to dance. There are "Fairy Bed Rose," "Queen of the Daffodils," "Snowdrop Queen," "Princess Lavender," "Lotus Blossom," and many others. "Kingfisher Blue" and "Bagged Kobin" hover and dart about the tiny pond; and "Crystal Dew" lies idly among the waterlilies in the water, while "Froggie' 'and "Mermaid" play tricks on her as she tries to have a quiet sleep. "Sunshine" dances about in frolicsome laughter, and poor forsaken "Turnip Top" in-made to come from his corner, and dance .with "Tippety Toes." "Pink Petal" and "White Mower" look perhaps the most silent, excepting for "Fairy Godmother" and . "Mushroom Fairy," who are awfully dignified. Tiny wee "Tinkles" is puzzling over a new piece of poetry to be recited shortly, while "Betty Blow" is frightfully busy over a. tiny sketch she is inking in.

But naughty "Micky Possum is trying to be smart by smudging it, every time Bhe does a wee bit more. Of course, "Fairiel" will not stand foi; such behaviour in her circle, so she demands the instant dismissal of the wicked "Micky Possum," and also "Blaek^ Thoughts," who is trying to be a bit mischievous as well. There arej numbers of new pixies,, too, at -the celebrations, and I -simply enjoy every} teeny bit of the occupation, until thflj golden day ends. , "NOM-DE-PLUME* (#s* City. ■ ' v
