TROTS AT HAWERA
The acceptances, for the opening day of the Hawera.'. Trotting _ Club's -Annual Meeting on Saturday indicate that the racing will be highly interesting, and that tho fixture will be a successful one. The meeting concludes on Monday. The principal event is the HAWERA TROTTING : CUP, of 500 soys; 4.38 class; two miles. Bonniewah ....' scr El' Direct scr ' Dillon Logan .. spr . Major Lind .... scr Gang Awa .... 21 Zella scr Rollo .......... 24 Great Parrish.-.. scr Enawah 48 Araehne ... scr Great Delight ..60 Almost, certain: to be favourite for the Hawera Trotting Cup is Great Parrish, who won easily at the Northland Meeting in January at his only previous start over two miles. He had anything but an easy passage in that race, but once he escaped from the pocket in which he was trapped he came with lightning • speed and soon settled the opposition. His main danger may be provided by Dillon- Logan, runner-up to Happy Land at Hutt Park last Saturday at 24yds worse terms than they are meeting here. He stood up to his work in solid style at the Park, although beaten," and as he is only four years old he is one who should go on making steady improvement. Happy Land, however, is also likely to go well, for he now appears to possess stamina that he lacked earlier in his career. Others with chances are Araehne, Rollo, and Enawah. The last-named was third to Logan's Pride and Warplane in the race last year and then won on the second day. The public will probably select Great Parrish and Dillon Logan. Horses in form _ who should register creditable .efforts in the other events named are:—Auroa Handicap: Phyllis Axworthy and Teri Kingi. Matapu Handicap: Worthy Queen-Finora bracket and Madam Mack. Stratford Handicap: Rangihau and Belle Lorrimer. Manaia Handicap: Biddy Parrish and Merce Bingen. Normanby Handicap: Major Lind and Dan Direct. President's Handicap: Holly Bank and Rangihau.
