For some time past negotiations lav* been e&rriea on to bring about a merges? between the controlling bodies of tM North ana South Island bands. At tti conference heia in Wellington on Saturday the important, step was finally ap* i proved, and a new body to be known! as the New Zealand Brass Bands Association was set up. On the question of allowing the mus*. cal points in the quick-step competw tion to be added to the points gained oa the Test selections as a basis for chain* pionship, the conference aecidea t«j take a plebiscite of all affiliatea bana^ ana the executive was instructed tof accept the majority verdict. It was decided to approve of the ra*^ quest from the Wellington Band Con^ test Committee that the next annualcarnival be heia in Wellington.
