A SQUIRT OF AMMONIA
'■(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNBDIN, This Day. Tho North Dunedin branch office of tho Bank of New Zealand was the scene of an attempted robbery this morning. Mr. Thompson, the manager, went to the North-East Valley office about 11.30 a.m., and was counting money, when there came a knock at the door. On opening the door a man squirted a stream of ammonia in his face. Mr. Thompson slammed the door in the intruder's face, ran to a nextdoor neighbour, and telephoned for the police. The intruder, however, had disappeared. . Mr. ; Thompson suffered great pain from the ammonia, but no serious I result is expected. No money was j secured by the man.
