RUSSIAN TIMBER TRADE
(British Official Wireless.) . RUGBY, Bth February. ' Questioned in the House of Commons as to whether the Soviet Government would co-operate in tho appointment of a Commission of Inquiry into labour conditions in Russia, similar to the* League of Nations inquiry made at the" instance of tho Liberian Government, tho Foreign Secretary, Mr. Arthur Hcndorson, said that tho Soviet had intimated to the British Ambassador that it would not consider any request for an investigation into tho timber industry in Russia. He added that without-proper facilities, he feared that no inquiry would bo satisfactory or effective.
