NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

WELLINGTON TEAM

Owing to the expense involved, the team to represent the Wellington province at the New Zealand amateur athletic championships at Dunedin on 27th and 28th February is smaller than usual. The team, which was selected by Mr. A. C. Kitto (athletics) and Mr. G. Harrison (cycling), was announced at a special meeting of the executive of the Wellington Centre last evening, and is as follows: — 100 yards and 220 yards: C. Jenkins (Wellington). 100 yards senior, 100 yards junior, and relay: F. H, Stephenson (Victoria University College). 440 yards: J. Fleming or T. Pickering. 880 yards and one mile: H. M'Donald (Manawatu). One mile: G. Bayne (Petone). One mile and three miles: G. C. Prosser (Brooklyn Harriers). One mile walk and three mile walk: A. K. Hill (Olympic). High jump and pole vault: F. Brady (Wellington). Throwing the hammer: W. Harvey (Wairarapa). Putting the shot, throwing the javelin, and throwing the discus: 1. Munro (Wellington). Cyclists: M. Gane (Wellington) and T. Roe (Petone). No hurdlers are being sent, and the question of whether Fleming or Pickering is to go south will lie in the result of a special 440 yds scratch contest at Petone on Monday evening. ; , '■«,«.
