NURSES' SALARY CUT

AX. UNFOUNDED BELIEF

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, 26th January. Tho decision of the Whangaroi Hospital Board on 13th January is to obtain a report from its finance committee on the question of making a cut in the salaries of the hospital staff after an inquiry on the subject from the Ash-bin-ton Hospital Board, hns given me to the belief that similar .action is contemplated by the Auckland Hospital Board. "From, correspondence appearing in tho Press there seems to be an impression that a reduction in nurses' salaries is contemplated, but as far as the Auckland Board is concerned there has been no suggestion of the kind," said Mr. Wallace, chairman of tho board. '' My personal feelings are that if it came to a question of salary redue- j tions the nurses would be the last to ! bo affected."
