A touring car belonging to Mr. F. Baker, of 1, Byron street, Petone, caught fire while being driven up tho Wainui hill road at about 4.30 a.m. yesterday, and was almost totally destroyed." When a salvage truck arrived at 10,30 a.m. the wreck was so hot that a fire extinguisher had to bo used before any work could be done, but already thieves had removed some of the detachable parts of the car.
