There was an increase of 1502 over the previous week's total in the number of unemployed registered in New Zealand for. the week ended Bth December, according tn a statement issued by the Minister of Labour (the Hon. ,S. G. Smith). The latest week's total was 0030, the highest, figure since- the records of registration have been kept. Details of the registrations at l;ib'ouf bureaux and post offices, with the previous .work's figures in parentheses, are as follow:— Auckland 2625 (2329) Wellington ..... 1221 (1200) Christchurch- ... 1671 (1359) Dunodin 742 (u4v) : Invercargill .... 21M (184)..- ---' Of the registrations for the five liniin 'centres; 3712 are of nien: with -.dependant?, and 2760 of-men without dependants. ."-" ....
