GRAIN "FUTURES"

(deceived 16th December, 9.40 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 14th Dee. The Grain Futures Administration has feleased its annual report, in which it Recommends modification of the Grain futures Act, in order to limit the amount *£ purchases and sales for speculative purposes, with a view to subjecting wheat markets to the laws of supply and demand. The result of the past seven years' Experience of administration has convinced it that an enactment strengthening the Acts to the present law would make possible more effective regulation of the gain future markets and tend to insure movements of grain prices in accordance jwith conditions of supply and demand. The report continued: "During the year just closed the total volume of trading in grain futures on contract markets amounted to slightly below 25 billion bushels, transactions in wheat futures alone during the twelve 'months aggregated nearly BO billion bushels, the greatest for this igrain of which there is any record."
