ESCAPEES TRAPPED

TAKAKA BURGLARIES

NELSON, sth December, i Leslie Sealey and Ronald Edward Morrison, who escaped from custody at Nelson late yesterday afternoon, were recaptured between Takaka and Collingwood this afternoon. A car which disappeared from Seymour avenue, Nelson, last evening, has also been secured undamaged. A telegraph linesman, Mr. Harold Homan, saw the two men at Puramahoi, six miles from Takaka, this morning. Mr. Homan, who recognised Morrison, was on duty, and tapped the wires, thus informing the Takaka and Collingwood police. Nelson police officers had all the arterial roads watched, and-the prisoners wore trapped between Collingwood and Takaka. Three premises were broken into at Takaka early this morning. Prom the jwcllery shop of Mr. H. J. Thomson about £300 worth of goods is missing. From Kirk and Co.'s premises a couple of cases of benzine were taken, while cheese, biscuits, and a quantity of drapery vanished from Mr. Wadsworth's shop..
