MELROSE CLUB FORMED
The Melrose Social and Sports Club decided, 'at a meeting held iv the Mcl- . rose Hall last evening, to form the Melrose Social and Sports Municipal Tennis Club. The City Council was approached recently with a view to securing the lease of a section of ■ ground on the south-eastern boundary of Newtown Park on which tennis courts might be constructed. A depression will have to be filled and stormwater drainage provided, in addition to the fencing and actual construction of courts and shelter shed. A committee responsible for the preliminary work to put 'the tennis club on- its feet was formed as follows: — Mrs. E. M'Pherson, Mrs. E. P. Flaws, Misses E. Kowband, K. Flaws, H. Man, I. Nicol, Messrs. E. P. Flaws, A. Eowband, S. Munn, B. Munn, J. Moynihan, K. Moynihan, D. Simmons, F. Lamueh, G-. Bcdwood, and B. Boodeltirk.
