MAGIStRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M. Richard Nimmo, aged 27, was convicted and discharged for being drunk and fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, for casting offensive matter in Dison street. For selling milk containing 8 per cent. o£ added water, Frank Kettlewell was fined £5.. A fine of £4 was imposed on See Wong Jor selling cigarettes after hours. The defendant had been previously convicted for ;» similar offence. :. On behalf of Star Stores (Wellington), Ltd., Mr. A. J. Mazengarb pleaded" guilty to a charge of employing an assistant after 9 p.m. Counsel said that the assistant Had not hurried away from the shop directly at closing time, and this accounted for the breach. The defendant was ordered to pay the costs—-10s.
