MAUI POMARE'S BANANAS
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, This Day. The Samoan bananas brought by the Maui Pomare on this trip are declared by experts to be of the very finest quality, and the condition of tho Dunedia consignment is such as to satisfy the most exacting consignees.- This portion of the cargo is being disposed of at fixed prices on a basis that averages 23s 6d per case, ranging from 23s to 255, the latter price being" required for the pick of the choicest. Advice from a responsible quarter reveals that the damage done by tho hurricane in Fiji some time ago was more extensive than was conjectured. Full investigation of the orchards shows that there will be a shortage this year (as compared with last year) of 30,000 cases, a deficit of practically 15 per cent.
