LICENSING BREACHES
FINES RESULT FROM RAIDS
(By Telegraph— Press Association.) ASHBURTON, This Day. Francis Joseph Hanrahan was fined £35 and his wife fined £5 to-day for selling liquor without a licence. The police stated that the male defendant was before the Court last Friday on a similar charge. His premises were raided twice and 38 bottles of beer and other liquor were seized. Counsel entered a plea ( of guilty, explaining that the defendant had been an agent for a Christchurch hotel and had acted under a misapprehension as to his rights. The defendants were allowed two weeks to.find the money.
