TIMARU OPPOSITION
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, 3rd December. At a largely attended meeting of retail shopkeepers of Timaru held today the question of the different trading coupon systems now being introduced in New Zealand was fully discussed. The following resolution was carried: "That this mooting of retailers asks the South Canterbury Employers' Association and tho Chamber of Commerce to support strongly the movement to make representation to tho Government to pass legislation prohibiting all rebate on free gift schemes whereby the purchaser or customer secures a rebate on a free gift by means of collect-! ing coupons which are redeemed in goods of any kind; the only rebate that should be permitted in the form of coupons being a percentage discount for cash or monthly credit terms."
