ECONOMIES BEING MADE
LONDON, 2nd December. Mr. J. H. Soullin, in a statement, said that Mr. J. E. Collins had beea given the administration of Australia House under the High Commissioner. Sir 0. do L. Eyrie. Later the positions of financial ad* viser and official secretary will ba amalgamated, saving £2000 a year. The economic adviser later will receive £1000 instead of £2000, plu» £500 from the Dried Fruits Board. Positions that have been abolished include that of chief clerk, saving £1300, assistant chief clerk, saving £554, and hospitality officer, saving Other retrenchments, including the sale of ouo motor-car, will save £259 L making a total of £7553. Approval has been given to economies in office space, making a room the estimated value of which is £1600 a year available for letting. Mr. Collins has been instructed to undertake additional reforms.
Mr. J. X, Collins has been financial advisor to the High Commissioner. The present -Offioi.nl Secretary is Mr. T, Tvuinble, and the chief clerk is Mr. X, J. Carruoau.
