TAUMAKUNUI RACES

PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW

The Taumarunui Racing Club opens its Annual Meeting to-morrow, and the list of acceptances indicates a good day's sport. The fields present somewhat easier problems for bettors than they, have been used to recently, and keener wagering will probably be found to be the result. Mosque, who ran second to Royal Doulton at Takapuna on Monday, appears to be returning to his best form, and he will probably be found sharing favouritism with Hakanoa, last year's Cup and sprint winner. Two others who will not want for friends are Cruachan, who scored on both days at the recent Waikato Meeting, and Trislma, winner of the highweight at Takapuna last Saturday and fourth in a similar race on Monday. Valsier would not appear to have a very favourable outlook at the weight, but King Willonyx showed some promise at Whangarei and will have a chance if he has gone on the right way since. The pair who look the hardest are Mosque and Hakanoa. The issue in the other races is complicated by the numerous double and treble acceptances, but horses in form and likely to run prominently if started in the races named are:—Shining Armour (Mananui Hurdles), Illuminagh (Trial Plate), RoseN Lupin (Taringamotu Hack Handicap), Snow Prince (Matapuna Hack Handicap), Perennis (Matiere Hack Handicap), Sir Kay (Rungaroa Flying Handicap), and Thurmous (Owhango Hack Handicap).
