LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION

A meeting of the League of Nations Union Dominion executive was held on Wednesday evening, 2Gth November, 1930. The Key. Dr. Gibb occupied the chair, [ and before the regular agenda paper was ! dealt with, lie gave a brief account of i the visit he had recently paid to Palmerston North and to Hastings, iv response to invitations received from those interested in the newly-formed or proposed union branches. Careful preparation had been made, and the result was very gratifying, excellent meetiugs having been held, in some cases the hall being crowded out. The Hotary Club iv each place, the High Schools, and other bodies, had been addressed, as well as large public meetings. According to a letter just received from Hastings, the interest had been growing, and the branch about to be established there promised to begin with a membership of over 100. Correspondence was read relating to summer conferences, at which it had been urged that addresses or discussions on some international subject should have a place on the programme. Satisfactory ausw.ers had been sent by most of the organisations that had been approached—two W.E.A. conferences and teachers' summer school, the V.M.C.A., the Y.W.C.A., and several groups of Bible classes. An important suggestion from the British League.of Nations Union relating to the linking up of industrial^ organisations with the League of Nations Union and their representation on the councils of the branches as also on the Dominion conference was discussed, and a statement dealing with it had been prepared for distribution among the branches.
