FOR CANCER FUNDS

EiNTJOYABLE CONCERT

To 'increase' the .amount to. the credit ot the Cancer Research ■>' Fund; '/Miss Isabel Halligan's pupils gave a ; 'very pleasing entertaiuriient in the Blue Triangle HaH last night. This was Miss Halligan's sixth, annual recital, aud to its presentation she must have given a, cpnsiderabls amount of thought; and care, quite apart from instructing' the:—children.' The mountings for each little'scene and playlet were bright and attractive, the programme was weir chosen, and the1 parts were allotted to just those persons, who were likely to make the most o£ them. A good many of the performers were small children, but whether adult or juvenile they did excellent work, which' suggested a thorough grounding in elocution and its various branches". Among them were a number who did well in the last local Competitions, and who are also known as ' talented performers by , many , concert patrons. The items ranged from -recita- ■ tions, dialogues, character sougs, and "short plays to dances (the latter by courtesy o£ Miss O'Brien arfd Miss Martin), and as much of the fare was of a humorous, nature the audience threaded its enjoyment with ' hearty laughter. Particularly charming was the play "All. Hallowe'en," into which' half a dozen youngsters entered with zest. It was the type of playlet one would "like to see'allotted more often to' Children at such recitals in place of the sophisticated numbers with which they are often entrusted. ' Mrs. M'Gurk was at the piano last night, Mr. L. Price was stage manager, and Mr. ]?. Games carried out tha duties of business manager. The full programme is given below, but special mention must be made of the "Absurdity in One Act, 'Double Demon,"' by A. P. Herbert, which.made a fitting finale to » happy concert. ■\. .' .
