Many reports were presented at the meeting of the Bdrstnl Committee held :ii. the Dominion Fanners' Institute yesterday afternoon, when . Mrs. M. JI. Olint/ield, J.P. (chairman) presided. These were, with few exceptions, fav'jjurablc, showing improvement in gome
cases, and in others a steady betterment in the girls on probation (in different parts of the Dominion). Very sincere thanks were expressed to Her Excellency Lady Bleflistoo for a handsome gift to be expended on poultry, as. Her Excellency was convinced that the keeping.of fowls was a useful experience for the girls as well as an interesting outdoor occupation. The chairman reported that permission had becu. obtained from, the Controller-Gen-eral to make arrangements for poultry keeping, and that it was hoped that some excellent birds .would be- obtained. There was already a good modern fowlhouse on the place which would ■ noed no alteration, ami: Mr, Hicks, of the Ohiro Home, who had been most successful with fowls, had kindly given advice. ■ Eeports were given of the inmates who will be leaving, the institution in the .New Year, and arrangements were made for them. Mrs. Tait reported that,''with Mesdames P, Fraser and Coventry, ■ she had bought., the Christmas gifts for the inmates and probationers, and "it. was Arranged that the committee would provide some eatables for the Christmas tea. It was decided that the emergency committee would attend to...any urgent .matters that might arise during the holidays. .
