WAIROA SCHOOLBOY

A CLERGYMAN'S BEQUEST

LONDON, 2nd December. The /'News Chronicle" says that a keen desire to perpetuate the family name actuated the Eev. John Arthur Wright's provisional bequest of £15,----000 to a 15-year-old schoolboy, Matthew Neal Hallwright, of Wairoa, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. The testator, who belonged to Bedford, left his estate in trust with remainder. The lad is the testator's great-nephew, and the son of Dr. Guy Hallwright, of Wairoa. The Eev. Wright christened his only son ''Leslie," but the latter predeceased him, as did his grandson, who also was^ named "Leslie," and was killed in East Africa in the war-time. The testator further desired that Matthew should enter Holy Orders and go to the Old World village of Toddington in Bedfordshire.
