INCREASING THE FUND

In the House of Commons, Miss Margaret Bondfield, Minister of Labour, moved an increase of tho Unemployed Insurance Fund's borrowing powers by £10,000,000 to £70,000,000. This fund's debt now stands at £5G,000,----000, and is increasing at the rate of £.40,000,000 a year. * The total benefits plus the cost of interest and administration, amount to £107,000,000 a year. ' The motion was carried by 274 votes to 214.
