KARORI SCHOOL
A joint meeting of the Karori Homo and School Association and the Karori School Committee was held last evening. Mr. Dyett, chairman of the School Committee, presided. Satisfaction was expressed at the success of the bridge evening held last Tuesday in aid of the school funds, £16 being raised. A cricket pitch, presented by the Home and School Association had been laid down on the lower playground. A fancy dress ball has been arranged for the children by the joint committees in place of the usual annual concert, and will be held on the Tuesday before the school holidays begin. Thanks were expressed to several local residents and storekeepers for offers of food and drinks for the party. It was proposed to present the usual prizes during the afternoon, and also to award prizes for the best fancy dresses. Catering for the children was left to Mesdames Waite, Thornton, Laird, Keeling, Cole, and Higgins, and Misses Gore and Little to arrange. Mesdaraes Waite and Thornton are to have charge 'of the sweet stall. A committee of men—-Messrs. Donaldson, Grant, and Fefl—was also appointed.
