THE LAW'S LONG ARM
TWO-YEAR-OLD OFFENCE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, 2nd December. Charged at the Police Court with deserting from the Bhip Kia Ora at Wellington on 14th May, 1928, a man named Owen Derrick, aged 41 years, pleaded guilty. Tho charge was an' unusual one for Blenheim, and accused's appearance was accounted for by the fact that he was arrested at Wharanui. Sergeant Petersen mentioned that the shipping company did not want the man back. He added that police costs totalling £3 Os 6d had been incurred, and accused was in a position to pay. Derrick was convicted and fined £2, plus £3 Os 6d costs.
