A JOINT RECITAL

"Pot .T'ourri" "was quite a good title for Misses' DorothyLParletle ami Maud Farrant to give to their juvenile pupils' entertainment held in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night. It indicated clearly the nature of the programme to be presented—song, dance, and story—and that this type'of recital appeals to quite a few was proved by the large audience. Children of all ages appeared in a. variety of Hems which were arranged lo suit individual standards of ability, and a nuniber of them were promising young performers who had evidently made the most of their tuition. Several of the items had a fresh comedy touch which did not go Tinappreciated by the house, and others which pleased were pretty classical ballets and others of a more '"jazzy" nature, action recitations, and solo dances of all kinds. The dressing was pleasingly simple, and some originality was displayed in the arrangement of the sketches. The stage management was most efficiently carried out by Messrs. E,. A. Edwards and Stan Philpott, and appropriate music was supplied by Mrs. Ritchie, Miss- H. Flaws, Messrs. Claude and' Norman Sander. The performers in what was really a very creditable production liad many gay tributes handed to them after the final curtain.
