WORSER BAY SCHOOL

A fancy dress 'garden party was held recently in connection with the Worser Bay Home and School Association at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Clark, Seatoun Heights. There was a very large attendance, and great interest was taken in the event by both children and parents. A programme of folk dances and games was carried out by tile children, under the able direction of Misses M'Kitlriek and Inder. The manner in which the dunces were carried out was very credit-: able to all concerned, and indicated very I careful and painstaking preparation on the ' part of the teachers. Prizes were allotted for costumes, which were ably judged by Miss F. K. George. Following is the prize list:— Best fancy costume: Hawaiian girl, Peggy Knots; Prince, Aubrey Morgan. Special prizes for fancy costumes: Two Gipsy girls, Kathleen Shilling and Peggy Bently; Dick Whittington, Roy Flaws; Nigger, Neville Lobb. Most original costume: Caller Herein', Betty Wood; Clergyman, Keitli Wolletfc. Special prizes for original costumes: Gollywog, Edna Harker; Cook, Owen Lobb; Micky the Mouse, Norman Lindsay; Bride and Bridegroom, Joy Vardy and Alma Longluirst. Cheapest costume: Daisies, Beryl Lowe; Sundowner, Leslie Flaws. Best paper costume: Witch. Shirley Gallagher; Worser Ba}', Frank Gamble. Special prizes for paper costumes: Night, Joan Clark; Time, Margaret Stewart; Big Noise, Alan Gamble. ]3est poster costume: Carnival, Kae Spiers; Bag Wash, Douglas Stewart. Solo dances and ballets arranged by Miss Hazel Martin were much .appreciated. While tho children were having afternoon tea tho visitors were entertained with soveral pianoforte items by Miss ■Eileen Clark. The great success of the function was duo to the enthusiasm of the teachers and pupils, and the co-operation of the parents and residents in the efforts of tho Homo and School Association. The financial results of the garden party were very satisfactory. Thanks are due to Mr. and Mrs. Clark for the use of their beautiful grounds. The members of the Kjiox Girls' Club, Lower llutt, gave a delightful entertainment in the Church Hall last evening. An outstanding item was a four-act play, "Judy," taken from the story of "Daddy Long Legs." Miss Olive Byko made an attractive "Judy," and the part of "Jervis Pembcrton," the mysterious "Daddy Long Legs," was very woll played by Miss W. Wilson. Miss M. Hamilton took the poet of! "Mrs. I/ippell," the'harsh orphanage matron, .'md Miss B. House, the sympathetic trustee. The remaining parts were .taken by other members of the club. A duet was sung by Misses IF. Horlar and E. Prydß. A largo and very appreciative audience wns present, nnd enjoyed the ercellent programme. '
