EX/ROUTE TO DOMINION

(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 23rd October. H.M.S. Diomede left Sheerness yesterday for New Zealand. The first port of call will be Gibraltar, where a day or two will, be spent taking in oil. After crossing the Atlantic the ship will call at Jamaica aud Balboa. Nukahiva, in the Marquesas Islands, and Boro Boro will be visited in the Pacific. The Diomedc is due to arrive at Auckland on 20th December, when the majority of the ship's crew will be due for Christmas leave. There are 20 officers on board and 350 ratings. The latter include 150 New Zealand ratings, who came over with the ship, and have since been taking courses in England. The other 200 arc on loan to the New Zealand Division. Some sixty or seventy of these will return by H.M.S. Duncdin, and the remainder will be serving in Now Zealand for three years. A HEEO OF OSTEND. The Diomcdo was to bo rccomuiissionod by Captain M. Crutchley, whose gallantry in the blockship Vindictive at Ostend won him the V.C. and the D.S.O. Both these officers have been lent for service in the New Zealand Division for a period of three I years.
