AUSTRALIAN BIRTH RATE
CANBERRA, Ist December. The Commonwealth Statistician reports that the birth rate for Australia in 1928 was tho lowest on record—■ namely, 20.31 per 1000 of population. The death rate was also,very low, and the rate of natural increase by excess of births over deaths was equalled in very few countries.
