NORFOLK ISLAND
RESIDENTS ALARMED
TOURIST TRAFFIC DECLINES
SYDNEY, Ist. December. The Administrator of ' Norfolk Island, Mr. A. J. Bennett, in his annual report, saya the residents are alarmed at the falling-off of the tourist traffic, especially from New Zealand, owing to the withdrawal of the steamer Maui Pomare. However, it is hoped to have the service restored in part at least. Norfolk Island developed amazingly during the past fivo years. The imports increased from £18,000 to £50,----000 per year, and the exports from £6000 to £35,000. Whereas there was only one motorcar on the island two years ago, there are now 1000.
