OWNERS AND TRAINERS MEET
Matters of interest to the members of the North Island Owners and Trainers' Association were dealt with at the monthly meeting of the committee recently. The president (Mr. T. Leadbetter) presided over a full attendance of the members. . A letter was received from the South Wairarapa. Trotting Club concerning the coming meeting, and extending an invitation to the members to be present. Appreciative comment was made on the fact that.the club had decided not to reduce the stakes, notwithstanding the considerable drop in the totalisator returns, and it was decided to request the members of the association to nominate lyMr. C. R. Barrett wrote tendering his thanks ami expressing appreciation of the support accorded him in the election of stewards of the Wellington Trotting Club. • . Satisfaction was expressed with the consideration given by the New Zealand Trotting Association to matters brought under .its notice by the committee. At -they request of several members of the association; it was decided to write to the Wellington Trotting Club expressing regret at the action of the club in reducing the stakes for the novice classes from £200 to £150. It was pointed out that the stakes for some of the other classes had been increased considerably; and the club's action was viewed with concern, more especially as the nominations and acceptances for the novice classes' had been well maintained during the past season.
