APPOINTMENT OF TRAINER

The position of private trainer to the Wellington owner, Mr. W. R. Kemball, which ■became vacant by the death receiitly of Mr. T. J.. Daly, has been filled by the appointment of George Jones, who was until. recently private trainer to Mr. Wi H.'Gaisford,, the Oringi sportsman. Joies wa^iat one time quartered at Awapuni, where he had charge of the majority o£ Mr. Gaisford's horses, but prior to'his moulding into shape the crack two-year-old Commendation, who was to prove the, best three-year-old of his year, he had been associated with several of the Dominion's best performers in preceding years, one of the number being the Melbourn Cup winner, Sasanof. Jones will now have under his charge a strong team, which, includes some promising youngsters of Mr. Kemball's own breeding. He will take up his new duties next week.
