The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. P. A. de la Pcrrelle) returned to Wellington from the South' 'this 'morning. The Minister of Education (the Hon. H. Atinore) will leave for Wanganui to-morrow for the purpose of visiting schools. On Thursday afternoon he ■will, lay tho foundation-stone ipf .tho new technical college hostel in Wanganui, and he will later visit Turakina, Marton, Bulls, and Palmerston North. On Saturday morning he will visit the boys' Flock House, returning, to. Wellington in time to be present at tha opening of the Maranui Surf Club La the afternoon. ' . Mr. S. G. Bonsor is at present -in Christchurch, and returns to Wellington to-morrow. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. Arboretum at Harvard University, and was known as "Chinese ■ Wilson" on account of his many botanicfal expeditions to-, the East. The introduction to our gardens of several beautiful flowers has- been duo to his discoveries, and the Boyal Horticultural Society of Great Britain recognised his work by bestowing several honours upon him. . Hume (formerly of Wellington, and killed at the landing at Gallipoli). The London correspondent of "The Post" states; that Lieutenant Philip Waldron Grehville Hume, 8.E., after taking part in the annual football fixture between officers and ■ non-commissioned officers of the Training -Battalion at Chatham, -collapsed suddenly, but recovered temporarily, only to collapse again. He. wa3 taken to tho Boyal Naval Hospital, at Chatham, but died on 28th October. Lieutenant Hume was-the' grandson: of the late : Colonel and Mrs. Hume, well known old residents of Wellington, and nephew of Major J. Hume, of Nelson. He "was only 27 years of age.
