LODGE MEETINGS

The fortnightly meeting of Muritai ! Lodge, No. 113, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held/ at Eastbourne last week, Bro. J* C. Ej Turner, P.G., C.P., presiding over a good attendance. An official visit was'paid b.sj the N.G. and members of Wildey Lodges Island. Bay, and greetings passed between] the two lodges. An initiation took placaj during the evening, the ceremony being carried out by visiting brothers. Reports^ by the Standing Committee were adopted* Subjects dealt with included new mem» bership, Christmas tree, annual picnic^ benevolent fund, and other matters. Bro* F. J. Jones, P.D.D.G.M., referred to tha work of the Order and its relation toj. Muritai Lodge. It was decided that theChristmas tree function take place at the> last meeting in December, and that the..1 lodge combine with O-Kiwi-Jti Rebekali1 Lodge in running. the entertainment. A considew able amount of correspondence was dealt;., with and invitations were accepted. Sevji' eral reports were received. Bro. J. Al Elliott, P.G., was nominated as Grand. Lodge Representative.- Two candidates were initiated. Bro. L. Cozens. P.G., presented Bro. J. A. Elliott with a P.G.> collar in recognition of his .services. Bro,T Elliott suitably replied. After the clos» of lodge a pleasant evening was spent; ia cards and dancing, tho proceeds, being in aid of the .Christmas tree. An official visit was received from the N.G. and! members of Kupe Lodge. The fortnightly meeting- of Kupe Lodgo,No. 140, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held at Lya^ Bay on Tuesday; Bro. Mathers, N.G.,; presided over a good attendance. An ofl* cial visit was paid by members of Souther^ Cross and Maraenui Lodges. In welcom* ing the visitors, Bro. Mathers thanked them for the interest they had alwaj'a shown in the lodge, and stated that i< was mainly through these visits thaid Kupe Lodge was in the good position itf was to-day. Bro. Millar, N.G., Bros Hodges, P.G., and Bro. Tahiwi, P.G.* suitably responded. After routine busi? ness the rest of the evening was devotettj to a social, which proved a wonderful,' ■success. The music was supplied by Bros.' Tahiwi and Edmonson, and vocal itemsj were contributed by Bros. Nicol, Tahiwi,aud Bellamy.
