Many of the churches in the large American cities ■were built on valuable sites. There*is a tendency to pull them down and erect huge buildings of ofllces and apartments, including accommodation on one of the iloors for a church, and tlie profits thus made go to endow the church and relieve the members of all financial anxiety.
