VICE-REGAL PARTY
PUBLIC SERVANTS AND WIVES
The Governor-General aud Lady Blcdisloe entertained at an afternoon party at Government House on Saturday nearly 1000 guests, consisting of Government and municipal employees and their -wives. This is the first of a number of similar gatherings at Wellington which Their Excellencies hope to be able to arrange during their stay in New Zealand. The guests were received by Their Excellencies on the lawn, and afternoon tea was .served in the ballroom and loggia. Music was provided by the Artillery Band, which played on the lawn, and by an orchestra placed in the ballroom. Among those present were the Mayor and Mrs. Troup, the Town Clerk and Mrs. Norman, Mr. IV A. Wright, M.P., Mr. Peter Fraser, M.P., and Mrs. Eraser, Mr. 11. Scmple, M.P., and Mrs. Scmplc, Mr. R. M'Kcen, M.P., and Mrs. M'Keen, Mr. AY. Nash, M.P., - nd Mrs. Nash, Mr. C. H. Chapman, M.P., and Mrs. Chapman, and several heads of Government Departments A similar party will be given by Their Excellencies at Government House next Saturday afternoon for1 those engaged in industrial establishments in the city and adjoining boroughs.
